Solanocrinus thiollieri |
Solanocrinus thiollieri is an extinct species of crinoid from Jura, France (not to be confused with the Jurassic period). Unlike modern crinoids, Solanocrinus did not have a stem and was not attached to the the ocean floor. Instead, it possessed 22 prehensile tendrils which it used to grab onto rocks.
