The root has received constraints from all its children, as in Image:Solving-tree-decomposition-3.svg. It combines them with its own constraint. At this point, the algorithm proceeds in the same way, but parents send constraints to children, rather than vice versa. When all leaves have been reached, the allowed values of each variable are determined.
