Soila Sariola

Soila Sariola is the alto in the Finnish a cappella group, Rajaton. A versatile singer, she can sing solo lines as well as back up sounds such as imitations of trumpet, guitars, and electric guitars. She also does some arranging and composing for the group.

Sariola was born into a musical family. She took violin lessons in East Helsinki Music School, but switched to the saxophone in her teenage years. She has also played the kantele, the Finnish national instrument, and the harmonium.

In 1988, Sariola joined the Tapiola Choir, thus sparking her interest in singing. She joined a number of other choirs and vocal ensembles. She joined Rajaton in 1999.

She graduated from the Folk Music Department of the Sibelius Academy, majoring in vocals.
