Sohawa (tehsil)

Sohawa is one of the Tehsils (sub-divisions) of District Jhelum, located in north-western part of district. Also at Sohawa, there is a toll plaza by the name of 'Tarakki' (Industry) Toll Plaza on the GT Road.

Near Sohawa is an old historic village named Dewan-e-Hazoori (Old name Bishandour). Dewan-e-Hazoori have population of around 3,000, it is quite a big village, surrounded by several "dhok" (smaller colonies, inhabited primarily by people of the same family). For example, Rala(n).

The most important site of the village is the Ziaret (shrine) of Al Haaj Al Hafidh Sayyid Muahammed Abd'illah Dewan-e-Hazoori. Sayyid Muhammed Abd'illah who was originally from the Al Azamiyya district of Baghdad, Iraq, had travelled to this part of the world to spread Islam. Every year the family of the great scholar organise a conferance where scholars from around the world attend to educate and enlighten the public about the religion of Islam. In the past great contemporary scholars such as the former minister of state for Kuwait, Yusaf Al Sayyid Hashem Al Rif'ai, Peer syed Naseer-ud-Deen Naseeer gilani, Syed Riaz Hussain Shah have attended the annual event. This years conferance will be held on the 13th of November 2006. The family of Sayyid Muhammed Abd'illah are actively involved in the spread of authentic Islamic knowledge and provide guidance to the thousands of followers they have. The current head (Gaddi Nasheen) of the Dewan-E-Hazoori family is Sayyid Mubarak Hussain Shah.

The grave of Shab Ud Din Ghauri is also situated close to dewan-E-Hazoori. Shab Ud Din Ghauri was killed during his stay at village Kot Dhamiak , and his grave is found after launching of Pakistan's missile Ghauri, and then Dr. A.Q Khan supported its construction , and now it is being visited by hundreds of people every year.
