B Sohanlal, the famous dance director of yester years in Bollywood was born in the early nineteen twenties in Jaipur, Rajastan. He was the eldest of four brothers and a sister. He was trained in Kathak right from the age of four. his younger brother, B Hiralal was also trained in dance. In later years, he too became a successful dance director, in Hindi and South Indian movies.
Sohanlal and his family left Jaipur to seek their fortune in the South. They settled in madras, now known as Chennai, capital city of Tamil Nadu State.
