Sognsvann station is the last stop on Sognsvannsbanen, the western side of line 3 on the Oslo T-bane. The station is located south of the Sognsvann lake. Next to the station on the west side is the Norwegian athletics academy, Norges Idrettshøgskole, while on the east side are the Norwegian archives, Riksarkivet.
The station was opened along with the Sognsvannbanen line on October 10, 1934. Along the line, it lies 8.7 km from Stortinget and at an altitude of 198.1 metres.
