[edit] What is this?
Template:Infobox Software has a new "logo" field. Many pages that use this template already have the logo located somewhere on the page. The purpose of the project is to put the logo image into the infobox.
[edit] How does it work?
- Pick a random group of five articles from the list below
- For each article, inspect its Infobox_software
- Does it have a logo as its "screenshot" parameter? If so,
- Rename the "screenshot" parameter to "logo", and (optionally) precede it with a <br> tag
- Blank out the "caption" parameter (ie. caption=)
- Use an edit summary like the following: Changed "screenshot" to "logo" as per [[Wikipedia:Software Logo Project]]
- Proceed to the next article
- Otherwise, does it have a logo or mascot or icon somewhere on the page? If so,
- Add a "logo" parameter to the infobox immediately after "name", and put the logo image there
- Remove all formatting information such as "left", "thumb", or "180px"
- Add "48px" (Do NOT make smaller images larger!)
- Use an edit summary like the following: Moved logo to infobox as per [[Wikipedia:Software Logo Project]]
- Proceed to the next article
- Otherwise, just delete the article from this list.
[edit] Examples
- Changing a screenshot to a logo: Bugzilla
- Moving a logo to the infobox: GNU Compiler Collection
[edit] Future work
Perhaps it would be appropriate not just to separate out screenshots and logos, but also icons and splash screens?
