Talk:Softcore

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seems to me like there should be SOME mention of "soft core" as used in the semiconductor design world (e.g. soft core FPGA, etc)

Picture removed: Removed image, softcore is not only about showing breasts vs showing genitals. If a picture is needed, take poster from Emmanuelle or Bilitis or something else.--Jahsonic 06:53, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Is that image appropriate? I think moving it further down with a warning might be more tasteful. I think, I will, in fact. Kashami 04:35, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

I think we need at least one example of softcore pornography.

[edit] formatting sucks

i appreciate the need to alert people to the pornographic content in the article, and to shield innocent young eyes from the image. however, it's hard to tell that there's any article here still at all; when i first opened this page, i thought it had been vandalized because it had no apparent content. something needs to be inserted to let people know that the article's content follows below.

I really don't think it's necessary for this article to have pictures. You've seen a woman at some time in your life right? Picture her nude. There's an example. 75.153.221.227 05:40, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A new Template

Is there an innapropriate Image Template? 19:03, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

I created one (Pornography). - EDIT - It was deleted. Trying to determin why.

[edit] Groping toward a definition

The article is getting shorter & more wiktionary like & that's OK because as long as we don't include fiction and artsy stuff, I naively think it's not difficult to define. A handful of good examples help greatly. I do think this article should apply to photos as well as video.

We overlap cnsiderably with the articles in the "see also" section. I would say that glamour photography is a subset of softcore, so the article needs to fit nekkid glamour photography as well.

I added "[penetration] including masturbation" to the defining elements.

That age distinction between hardcore & softcore didn't seem right & has no references. Softcore models are probably just as young as hardcore. Ghosts&empties 07:22, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Simulated Sex?

What are the limits of softcore? Can it include actual sex that is shot so that it is not explicit? Is this at all a practice in the industry? --Chris Griswold 06:00, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Emmanuelle part removed

These films such as Emmanuelle are not simply classified as "softcore" in Europe. The phenomenon of "sex in the cinema" (especially in 1970s) was usually seen integral with mainstream cinema. The term "softcore" pertains to films of pictorials that are produced within the scope of pornography but not featured as "hardcore" due to several preferences or restraints. This is the case in Europe. The exemplary inclusion of Emmanuelle and the like may lead to an otherwise misconception. --Behemoth 15:42, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I removed possibly slanderous material

I just made a series of three edits. The second one is important: you can view the diff link here. I removed material that could be viewed as possibly slanderous because no citations from reliable sources were offered. Per Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, "biographies of living persons and ... biographical material about living persons in other articles" require "a degree of sensitivity, and must adhere strictly to our content policies: Attribution and Neutral point of view (NPOV)." I feel that the content I removed did not meet that qualification because there were no citations offered. Please do not readd the material unless you provide citations. Remember, "We must get the article right." --Iamunknown 21:18, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
