Software Creations (US)

Software Creations' BBS, was considered for many years the largest BBS in the world, which assisted independent software developers and larger software companies like Apogee Software popularise the Shareware model via online ordering and distribution. Software Creations provided access to shareware titles from developer 3D Realms, Id Software, Capstone, Parallax, Activision and many others. Software Creations also published 45 titles owned by the company, such as Jetpack, God of Thunder, Argo Checkers, Chinese Checkers, Hexxagon, Hexxagon 2, Night Raid, Revolution X and Squarez Deluxe!. Software Creations was a division of Linton Enterprises, Inc, based in Massachusetts, and was run by Dan Linton.
The BBS operated on:
- 134 nodes running PCBoard from Clark Development using all U.S. Robotics modems,
- Novell Network supporting NFS utilized by Software Creations' own WEB BBS patent.
