My name is Sebastiaan "Bas" Soetermans. I'm a 19 year old male from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I've been around here for about a year now, so I thought was a good time to acutally get my userpage going.

I was born in Amsterdam, quite the lovely place. I grew up in Landsmeer, a town just above my country's capital. I attented the local Montessori method elementary school. I didn't do anything there, really. My high school was the Bredero College, named after the Dutch poet and playwright Bredero. I've been a full time student at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, where I studied to become a history teacher. Now I'm taking some time of to think about my futureplans.

After elementary school I didn't have any good friends left. In high school I met three youngmen, in chronological order, Fabian, Sander and Ezra. We watch movies together, hang out. You know, the usual stuff.

Music

I'm a big fan of music. Really, I am. I like all sorts. You name it, jazz, hip hop, dance, metal... I hope I can get a job at a record store anytime soon. My favorite artists are U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the currently defunct N*E*R*D. I also think highly of The Ramones, The Cure, Miles Davis and Public Enemy among others.

Film and photography

Film and photography is a good second to my love for music. I wrote down film and photography, because I'm fond of movies and videos and everything that has something with those two. A while I worked at the cinema, so I've seen a lot of movies, good and bad. I haven't got any specific favorite, but my most-favored are without a doubt The Godfather, Rushmore, The Shawshank Redemption, Amélie, The Blues Brothers, The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, and last but certainly not least, Star Wars (Episode V and III are the best, in my opinion).

For sometime now I'm into music videos. Michel Gondry, Mark Romanek, Anton Corbijn... Fantastic work.

History

I hear you thinking, "Duh!". I'm very interested in history, and I've read quite a lot of books, for a normal guy, my age. I find modern history the most interesting.
