Talk:Sodium hydride
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- It is best to not consider sodium hydride as toxic, as while it is very corrosive to wet human tissues other than its corrosive effect it is not able to damage a human.
What does that mean? It's not toxic, even though it will destroy any tissue that comes in contact with it? Twilight Realm 01:52, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Solubility of NaH
NaH - it is not soluble, I am pretty sure. There are no sources of naked H- in organic solvents. Lots of students think that it is, but they are fooled by the fact that NaH will deprotonate solvents to give a bases that behave equivalently to NaH. Research chemists would crave a soluble form of real H-, uncluttered with BH3, AlH3. I would love to be wrong on this one! --Smokefoot 02:18, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
