[edit] AD/CE

Moving an article from one standard to another is a serious offence. Do not convert from BC/AD to BCE/CE or vice versa again.--Panarjedde 01:48, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Check Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Eras, and Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Jguk. I am waiting for your excuses on my talk page.--Panarjedde 12:16, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Response posted on your talk page, mate. No excuses. Chill, it wasn't done with good intentions (i.e. good faith) and not meant to start an issue. Let's both go have a cookie. ;)--SOCL 23:54, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Schloesser

Hi! I noticed you updated Schloesser's page to reflect his new assignment. However, I can't find any references online stating that he has actually (or even when he will) taken command of the 101st. The 101st's website still lists Turner as its CG and no news releases from the Army state that there has been a change of command yet. Has there been a specific announcement that this has occurred or have you changed it to reflect a near-future event? --ScreaminEagle 20:54, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the quick response. I figured you had known the family somehow; how else would you have known Kelly's name? However, I was still looking for a reference to cite rather than personal knowledge of events (I can be privy to the Queen of England's personal schedule, but I can't put it on WP without a verifiable reference attached, you know?) The website changing Turner's page into Schloesser's page is a great start. In fact, they've changed it again since you linked to it and now it is just the generic "Major General" page with Schloesser's info on it: New MG's Page. The reason I was being such a nerd about all of this is because when we could cite this change, it could then set everything else into motion. We can change Schloesser's page, which means we can then change Turner's page based on that, then Clark's page based on that, and so on. If we don't have something concrete, we get a lot of people yelling at us.
And I just found an old article about the change of command (why didn't that come up before?): [1], which means we can plug it into the Schloesser article. Yee-haw! --ScreaminEagle 16:17, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Oh yeah, one more thing. Now that we have an official photo for the MG, what say we use that, plus an milper infobox. However, I'd like to keep that other photo around for the future once the article gets bigger (I'm telling you all this since you seem to be the only other person interested in this article). They mentioned in one of the newspaper articles that Ryan's graduation from OCS marked the first time in Army history that three generations from the same family graduated from OCS. If that can be confirmed, I think it would be a nice and unique tidbit of trivia to add to his bio and then that photo would accompany it quite nicely. Otherwise, there's not a whole lot of reason to keep it other than G.P. I guess. What do you say? --ScreaminEagle 16:22, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Heh, I guess Google hates us both. Would have been nice to have come across that article a freakin' month ago. I'm sure you've seen it by now, but I did his awards based on staring at his flippin' ribbon rack for the past two and a half hours (I'm sure he's a fine person, but I think I could go the rest of my life without ever staring at his uniform again) and comparing it with my husband's awards and ribbons poster and a handy ribbon-rack-maker online. Anyway, I think I have almost all of it right, but the Armed Forces Reserve Medal confuses me a mite: was he in the reserves for 10+ years or in the reserves in overseas combat? I could have sworn he was AD commissioned officer, but those are the criteria for being awarded it. Unfortunately, it can't possibly be anything else, given the ribbon colors and placement on his rack (unless there's a totally new award out there that no one knows about). Any ideas?
Also, are you good with computer-type stuff? When I went to copy his official photo from his bio there, the whole page copied instead of the photo and I can't detach it. I'm hoping you're more competent in this area than I am so we can stuff it into the infobox. And yeah, like you, I learned everything on WP from checking out the edit boxes and comparing them with the result in the actual article--makes it much more easy to learn that way since those instructions they give you aren't exactly the best in my opinion.
Anyway, let me know if you have any luck with that photo or if we have to figure something else out. And you'd think with someone like this there would be more information available online for him, but no. Frustrating. I've had the same frustration over folks like Guy C. Swan and I finally gave up on ever finding anything useful to add to his. So even with the infobox we may have to settle for less information, which I find annoying. Sorry to rant. --ScreaminEagle 20:06, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Dang, you're quick! The photo looks great. I'd say in the infobox under awards that we add his top medals + badges (as my uncle says, they work harder for the badges than they do any other award they get). And no problem about his combat experiences, etc.--I don't expect you to spill your guts about operations and such. I was just curious if you could confirm that he actually had the Armed Forces Reserve Medal or if it was something else entirely (I just don't want to report something inaccurate). Otherwise, I don't need to know what he got it--or anything else--for.
That's a great idea about adding that CoC photo to the 101st article. Not only does it fit of course, but that article is pretty scarce in the image department, given its length. I might suggest placing it a little further up the article than right at the end there, though, because I think it might look a little strange to have a photo, tons of blank space, and then another photo at the end. I don't see why it couldn't be squeezed in nicely anywhere in the article, truth be known. It not only shows an example of a standard CoC of course, but it is a recent important event affecting the Division at large. Would it look weird next to General Information where it lists the command staff? --ScreaminEagle 20:30, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
I just looked at that photo and realized it's owned by the newspaper, not the Army (like I thought it was), so just in case you didn't see it either, you'll have to do a Fair Use argument for it if you use it.--ScreaminEagle 20:41, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] LTG David H. Petraeus reference source

The source for LTG Petraeus' next duty assignment to replace GEN Casey in MNF-I was already linked at the bottom of the page under External Links. I went ahead and linked it at the top of the page but please carefully examine page before making changes. --Signaleer 17:43, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

I misread what you were trying to convey on the history tab of the page. --Signaleer 21:14, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

If you were wondering if he will get promoted to General, this is true. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/05/world/middleeast/05military.html?em&ex=1168146000&en=eb7b05220e1d4448&ei=5087%0A --Signaleer 21:22, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

If you think logically, the current commander of MNF-I, General George Casey, was the Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army and then took command of MNF-I. The Secretary of Defense has already offically nominated LTG Petraeus to promotion to General. --Signaleer 21:44, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] General George Casey sources

I have noticed that you have updated General George Casey's page, where is your reliable source for this nomination to be the future CSA? --Signaleer 21:56, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

Be it as it may, the link that you sent me mentioned nothing about Tony Snow stating that GEN George Casey will be the CSA. --Signaleer 02:25, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

I say link it for a reliable source. --Signaleer 15:36, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
