[edit] Clean Up
This looks like a FAQ from the SS website. There needs to be information on what it does, how it works, etc, not questions for people interested in getting on the dole. - MSTCrow 23:36, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] This is actually a helpful look over government BS
Although the subject matter was short, it was to the point. As a younger person struggling for four years with illnesses and chronic pain, and finally hearing a judge saying to me " I am so sorry this has taken so long, you are totally disabled" I was very offended by the remark regarding it being easier for those trying to "get on the dole". As the judge said yesterday, I have paid into this system all of my working life and this is no charity. I have a Master's degree and was close to a doctoral, when my illnesses began. Being on "the dole" Implies a lazy or worthless person who chooses to do nothing with his/her life. I hope you never have to experience the frustration and humilation one feels.
[edit] Please merge documents
This document's information should be condensed and combined with the information under the Social Security Disability Insurance page. While it would be excellent to have the content be user-friendly enough so that people looking to "go on the dole," i.e. claim their rightful SSDI benefit, can easily take in the information, it should also conform to the rigorous standards of Wikipedia.
[edit] section on lawyers
Every work day you see dozens of commercials by lawyers promising to get you SS benifits if you "can't" work. Someone with more knowledge than I on the subject should write a section on this subject.
