Socol

Socol (Serbian: Сокол or Sokolovac, Hungarian: Nérasolymos) is a commune in Caraş-Severin County, Romania (in the Clisura Dunării area of Banat). In 2002, the population of the commune (comprising five small villages or so) was 2,301, out of which 49.54% were Serbs, 43.15% Romanians, 4,60% Czechs, and 1,21% Hungarians. [1]
The most famous person from Socol is Miodrag Belodedici, a former world-class soccer player.
Sokol means "hawk" in Serbian.
