Society Hill is a development in Jersey City, New Jersey, on the Hackensack River, comprised of hundreds of condominiums. Society Hill is one of Jersey City's few gated communities (another being Port Liberté). On this site once stood the famed Roosevelt Stadium at which Jackie Robinson played. The stadium, home of the Jersey City Giants, which was built for twenty-five thousand was sometimes filled by over double its capacity. In 1985, the historic stadium was demolished and a number of condos were constructed simply called Society Hill. More recently, a section of condos has been constructed and named after the point on which the stadium was built, Droyers Point. The development has a waterfront walkway, which is part of the larger Hackensack RiverWalk plans.
