Socialist Action (Canada)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Socialist Action is a Trotskyist political group in Canada. It is aligned with the US group of the same name: both groups emerged from the reunified Fourth International. The Canadian group is led by Barry Weisleder and was formed in 1994 after Weisleder was expelled from Socialist Challenge (the Canadian section of the reunified Fourth International). Many of its members belonged to the Revolutionary Workers League and either left or were expelled when the RWL rejected Trotskyism in the early 1980s.
Socialist Action describes itself as being "in solidarity" with the reunified Fourth International, although it is not part of it. The group is close to the American group of the same name and contributes to and sells the US group's newspaper.
