Soacha is a municipality in Colombia on the southern edge of Bogotá, the country's capital. It has an important industrial zone and is home to mostly working class families.

With a population of 396,059 inhabitants, it is also Bogota's most populous suburb.

Soacha became famous when the presidential candidate Luis Carlos Galán was assassinated on August 18th, 1989 while visiting the city during his campaign. It was founded on December 31 in 1600.
