[edit] Song information
Stargate, a Norwegian production team, were the producers behind "So Sick". Mikkel S. Eriksen and Tor Erik Hermansen of Stargate composed the music for the song, while Ne-Yo composed the lyrics. "So Sick" centers on a character, who is tired of hearing love songs playing on the radio, because they remind him of his last relationship and breakup. Ironically, the song can therefore be interpreted as a love song about being sick of love songs. The chorus tends to be ironic, the whole song is about being tired of love songs despite that the song has a love song feel.
Ne-Yo has said he got the idea for the song from an old girlfriend he used to have. He really did like her but he listened to the advice of his friends and wound up cheating on her. They broke up when she found out but shortly after he started repeatedly hearing this song on the radio that she used to love, which was unusual because the song wasn't new and it hadn't had much airplay until that point. Every time he heard the song he was reminded of how he lost his girlfriend and wanted to turn the radio off but he would always keep listening to it because it also reminded him of how much he loved her and all the good times they shared.

[edit] Remixes
There are currently two "So Sick" remixes. One of which is entitled "So Sick (The Emcee Remix)". One features Jin and another features GeeZe. Another remix is one that features LL Cool J. This remix is on LL Cool J's 11th album, "Todd Smith".
There is a female version of the song as well, the female is Lil Bit. Although widely unknown, a local Bay Area, high pitched rapper coined simply as "Andrew" has written a rap intro to the song, similar to GeeZe's version (he has stated that it is entirely coincidental and that he "had no idea it existed" until after his version was completed). In Andrew's version of the song, available exclusively on his Myspace page at (http://myspace.com/AndrewRemixed), Neyo and Lil Bit are editted together into a duet, and a rap intro added, a combination not yet seen before.
[edit] Music Video
The video for "So Sick", directed by Hype Williams, saw heavy rotation on BET and MTV. Two versions of the song's video were shot. The original version of the music video ended up being scrapped for various reasons. The newer version appealed to the current weather conditions of the winter season with the video being filmed in the snowy mountains.

[edit] Answer songs
Up and coming R&B artist Lil Bit (http://www.myspace.com/lilbitmusic) has responded to Ne-Yo with an answer song of the same name, "So Sick", with the same instrumental track. This time however, the lyrics sung are directed straight to Ne-Yo, stating that Lil Bit's assumed ex-girlfriend character is sick of his love songs:
- If you’re so sick of love songs
- So tired of tears
- You said you loved me
- Why ain’t you here?
- I’m so sick of your love songs
- So sad and slow
- But I just can’t turn off the radio
It even got to the point where the date of the anniversary is different. Ne-Yo was 'July 15th', but Lil Bit's version said 'July 16th'
