Please note: The assertion of association with the University of Florida, ImageTexT, or any other organization should be taken merely as the establishment of my credentials, and not as a claim that any such body supports or opposes deletion of a given webcomic.

I am a PhD student in English at the University of Florida, focusing, among other things, on comics. The University of Florida has one of the most important comics studies programs in the country, with a particularly extensive amount of holdings in the special collections library. We also publish ImageTexT, the only university-affiliated journal of comics studies - a journal I am involved with work on. (I'm currently doing a book review for them, among other things) ImageTexT is also the site of one of the few peer-reviewed pieces of scholarship on webcomics, an article by three UF students, all of whom I know.

I am currently working on pieces for both the Webcomics Examiner and Comixpedia, and webcomics are a part of my research. Being at a PhD program with a focus on professionalization, this research is both intended and likely to gain publication and to be presented at national conferences.

In light of this, and in light of the fact that webcomics are a relatively new object of study within comics scholarship, I feel that it is accurate to describe myself as one of the academics most active in work on webcomics. Snowspinner 22:17, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
