I am a former YEw chung student and betty chan is close with our chinese teachers... they talked about her house because there are always gatherings with teachers, principals and directors. Now her wealth, it may be extremely high to people who are living in the US and know nothing about Hong Kong.. except the campus Hong KOng yew chung Secondary section( owned by the HK government until the new campus is built), she owns every school campus.. there are lots of buildings in kowloon tong that is owned by her.. especially for the kindergardens.. kowloon tong is residential area although it has no views... the houses there costs about 1000 US dollars per sq feet.. these are only in hong kong...http://www.ycef.com , how much do they worth altogether??.. you deciede...currently there are 5 yew chung international schools around the world, most in china... and provides education to kindergarden students, primary and secondary... all the campuses excluding the hong kong yew chung's secondary campus is owned by the yew chung education foundation..... these do not provide much support for her wealth... i wrote 120 million because that is about 1 billion hk dollars...... we know she is rich and our teachers told us that she has about a billion hk dollars... well if you calculate the price of the campuses she owns and her income (the tuition feex the approx num of students) you will find out she has more than a billion hk dollars... Yew chung has been in operation for more than 70 years,, and it is one of the most prestigious international schools in hong kong...

Betty Chan (Chinese: 陳保琼 ) is the daughter of Madame Tsang Chor-hang and the owner of Yew Chung Education Foundation. She is most notable for being the director of Yew Chung and is believed to have a net worth of over 120 million.

Betty graduated from University of Hawaii with B. Ed. and M. Ed. She was awarded AAUW Scholarship and obtained Ph. D. in the United States. She gained total control of Yew Chung upon her mother's dealth in 1999, and it is widely speculated that she inherited a total share of Tsang's estate.[1]

In 1999 Yew Chung became the first school to be granted land from the Hong Kong government to operate a private, independant school. She founded the China based "Yew Wah Education Foundation" with her husband. The name " Yew" comes from "Yew Chung" and "Wah" comes from " Kwok Wah". Betty is believed to have a net worth of over 120 million. Other personal investments that contribute to her wealth include schools, hotels and real estate.
Facts: A new campus is expected on completion in Dec 2006, because of it's strategic location ( heart of Kowloon Tong ), it may cause a great impact to other international schools in Hong Kong.[2] The school boosted it's popularity by displaying artworks from it's primary students in the Kowloon Tong MTR station last year.[3]

Much criticism arose last year because of the plans to reduce costs. Most of the teachers had their salery lowered and some of their job benefits were removed, this lead to the resignation of 13 teachers. Because of the need for improvement to meet future standards of the new school, many new teachers were hired to create smaller classes. This caused an introduction of a $200000 HK dollar debenture fee. Many parents questioned whether Betty only cared for her money or was there really a need for those actions.
