[edit] Sicard

Sicard? Can you confirm? I've seen Robert C. Harris (Dalhousie, NB) cred 5 Sept 1870 with a fan blower/auger system, the Railway Screw Snow Excavator. Trekphiler 05:27, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

I didn't write the Sicard thing, but it's well known in Quebec that Sicard invented the snowblower. Before Sicard, the streets weren't cleaned up of snow. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.48.190.174 (talk • contribs) .

[edit] Thrower? Blower?

What about a discussion of the term "snow thrower" vs "snow blower". Are they interchangeable or is a thrower a single stage and a blower a two-stage? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 192.77.161.22 (talkcontribs) .

Here in New England, I've never discerned a difference between the two terms, but that may be just me.

Here in the Ottawa area (worse winters than moscow) a "thower" is often considered a small unit - often with a 2 stroke cycle engine, while a Blower is a big one. The thrower is for small lanes or walkways.cmacd 19:50, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
