Snowman's Revenge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Snowman's Revenge is the twenty-second episode of the third season of Courage the Cowardly Dog. It involves the return of The Snowman (of The Snowman Cometh), who travels to Nowhere in order to create a new tundra environment, the "West Pole".
[edit] Plot
The episode begins with Snowman, in his melting lab, floating out to sea. Using his invention, the "Coldfinger", he decides to create a new tundra paradise, a "West Pole". At random, he chooses Nowhere, Kansas to be the location of his new frozen home. Meanwhile, Eustace, Muriel and Courage are returning from a square dance, which they had to leave early, because Eustace tore his pants. When they return home, they are shocked to see snow and ice all along the farm, and become enslaved by Snowman, in order to help him turn Nowhere into a winter wonderland. Soon, the sun is blocked out, and Eustace, Muriel and even Courage become frozen solid. Meanwhile, Snowman is enjoying his new life, but still longs for his old friends. He tells Courage a story about the North Pole, and how the "blanket of gases" ripped and caused the end of the North Pole. This gives Courage an idea. He melts himself, and takes a trip over the hole in the ozone layer, and sews it shut with Muriel's sewing kit. Soon, the North Pole reforms, as does Snowman's old friends. When Courage returns, he brings Snowman a postcard from the North Pole, which makes him long for home. He soon leaves with his old friend Ivana, and Nowhere returns to normal, leaving Eustace confused and pantless.
[edit] Trivia
- Snowman's invention,"Coldfinger" is a pun on Goldfinger, one of the James Bond novels. Sean Connery, the inspiration for the Snowman played the James Bond in this movie.
- Snowman explains that the North Pole was getting warmer because of the hole in the ozone layer. However the hole actually occurs in the South Pole, not in the North Pole.
- The fact that his friends suffered due to the rip in the ozone layer may be a reference to Connery's role in the Highlander films. The second film invovled a shield used to block the dangerous effects of the rip, while Courage litterally sews the rip together.
