Snow City

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Snow City is Singapore's first permanent snow centre, and was built at a cost of $6 million SGD ($3.69 million USD).

[edit] Overview

The main focus of Snow City is its "Snow Chamber", a 1200 square metre room filled with a constant 400mm of snow. Between 10 and 15 tons of snow is created each week in order to maintain this level; the snow is produced using a special "Snow Gun", which cools water using liquid nitrogen.

The temperature in the Snow Chamber is -5°C; an "airlock" allows visitors to become comfortable with the lower temperatures before they enter the chamber itself.

It has a 3 metres high slope, which allows people to slide down using a float. There is also a children playground below the slope for those small children who do not want to slide the slope. Jackets, boots, gloves and waterproof pants can be rented.
