[edit] Reasons

The sneeze fetish for most sneeze fetishists begins from a very early fascination with sneezing, both presented in media such as cartoons, books, comics, and real-life. The reasons for this fascination are difficult to explain for the fetishist; however, some reasons for the fetishist's attraction to sneezing are conjectured to be in the vulnerability of the person sneezing, or the parallel to the sexual orgasm.

[edit] Vulnerability

Some fetishists particularly find attraction in the vulnerability aspect of the sneeze. They enjoy that the person lost control, as sneezing is something that is beyond people's control, and is something that everyone does, regardless of strength, power, or status. Many people like seeing those who are otherwise well-composed and in control sneeze because in sneezing that person has lost control. There are a lot of sneeze fetishists that enjoy the nurturing side of the sneeze, in that they get to take care of someone if they are sick or having allergies.

[edit] Parallel to the sexual orgasm

One reason that the sneeze is attractive to a person may be its parallels to sexual orgasms. The period of expectation, the expulsion and the after-effect is a comparison to the cycle of that of an orgasm. Both fetishists and non-fetishists report an enjoyable feeling gained after a particularly good sneeze.

[edit] Characteristics

Sneeze fetishists all have individual likes and dislikes in sneeze characteristics. Characteristics that define how a fetishist will or will not like a sneeze depends on:

  • Sex: male or female sneezes. Anyone may enjoy sneezes of any sex. A fetishist who enjoys sneezes of the same sex is not necessarily homosexual.
  • Volume: soft, medium or loud
  • Vocals: little, medium or big amount of vocalisation
  • Wetness: dry, average or wet
  • Target: into hands; into tissue or handkerchief; uncovered
  • Stifled or Unstifled
  • Real or fake (e.g. from cartoon characters, TV shows, and movies)
  • Induced or casual: this can make a difference if the fetishist knows that the sneezes are induced (see Inducing)
  • Buildups: the amount and loudness of buildups. Buildups are generally a commonly enjoyed characteristic.
  • Repetition: most fetishists enjoy repetitious sneezes, or sneezing fits
  • Allergic or cold: Some fetishists enjoy cold sneezes because of the feeling of nurture over the helpless victim; others are repelled by the germ factor.
  • Talking whilst sneezing: this is a characteristic enjoyed by some sneezing fetishists due to the feeling of lack of control emanated from the sneezer.[citation needed]
  • Sneezing while hiding
  • Sneezing while gargling: most commonly done with mouthwash (Scope). This is to exaggerate the load expelled by a sneeze to the pleasure of both parties.
  • Extremely loud female sneezing: The woman sneezes an extremely big, drawn out sneeze that is louder and huger than many men's sneezes.

[edit] Materials

A large amount of material is available on the Internet for the sneeze fetish community. These are in a variety of mediums:

  • Sound clips
  • Video clips
  • Fiction and fanfiction stories
  • Internet groups, notably

Textual mediums sometimes utilise a "phonetic spelling" for sneezes. This is the spelling of the sneeze in an onomatopoeic way to convey the physical sound of the sneeze. For example, the phonetic spelling for the "standard sneeze" is "Ah-choo", "Ha-choo", "Aachoo", "Huh-choo" etc.

Quite a bit of this material can be found on various websites which cater to the sneeze fetish including both free and paid sites.

[edit] Inducing

Inducing sneezes is used for the sexual stimulation of both the person inducing the sneeze and/or the person witnessing the sneeze. If a person does not normally sneeze, inducing is seen as an option.

Some people may devise methods to induce other people to sneeze without their knowledge or consent. However, most fetishists find this a morally or ethically wrong act. In addition, it is unknown how a substance will affect a person, and thus such an attempt may result in dangerous consequences. Generally, most fetishists do not induce sneezes in other people without consent.

To induce a sneeze, the "tissue method" is generally used. This involves rolling a paper tissue into a tip and then introducing it into one or both nostrils in order to tickle the inside of the nose. Another popular and less invasive method is termed "photic sneezing" in which bright light (especially sunlight) is used to elicit the desired reaction. Another method is pressing a vibrator or massager to the side of the nose.

There are various forms of induction, some of which work better than others for certain individuals based upon sensitivity to external stimuli.
