SNDT (Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey) Women's University is a women's university in the city of Mumbai, India. The university headquarters are situated at Churchgate in South Mumbai, while the main campus is in Santacruz - Juhu area of Mumbai. SNDT has campuses in Pune, other parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat as well.

SNDT Women's University was founded on June 2, 1916 by the social reformer Dhondo Keshav Karve with just five students. It was the first women's university in India.

Today, the University has an enrolment of over 40,000 students. It has four campuses, located at Churchgate, Santacruz-Juhu, Pune and Palghar. The university has 26 colleges, 38 university departments, 11 faculties. There are 11 undergraduate colleges and 38 postgraduate departments. The university continues to manage three secondary schools for girls, which it has inherited from the past. The university is actively involved in teaching, research and extension.

The University is the first University in Maharastra to obtain a Five Star (*****) rating from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India.

The university has collaborated with state and central governments, industry, national and international organisations to develop and conduct academic programmes, undertake research and in working with the community. The partners include Government of Maharashtra, various ministries of the Government of India, University Grants Commission, UNICEF, British Council, Association of Commonwealth Universities and Swedish International Development Agency.

Freeships and scholarships are available to students on a need-cum-merit basis.

Student hostels are available on three campuses of the University. The seats are limited and available on merit-cum-means basis.
