Snakes and Ladders is the fourth album by Gerry Rafferty. It was released in 1980, following success of his previous two albums, City to City, and Night Owl (album). The LP was not as well-received by critics and sales were not as great. Rafferty's popularity was declining, part of the reason was he refused to put together a tour for the album, even though there were pamphlets put together should he have decided to change his mind about touring. This began Rafferty's general absence from the higher charts in the UK and UK, although sales of City To City and the singles Right Down The Line and Baker Street were still getting airplay and generating sales. The album was re-released onto CD in 1988 by EMI.
