Snakehead will be the seventh Alex Rider novel written by Anthony Horowitz. The author has revealed some details about the seventh installment on his personal website. He says he plans to travel to Australia, Thailand and Lombok, making them probable locations for the book. He also noted that Yassen Gregorovich would make an appearance. He also added that new characters such as the Australian Secret Service personnel and a Chinese gangster (possibly a Snakehead which is a Chinese Gang) would appear. Since Alex received a letter from Sabina Pleasure in Ark Angel, saying she might visit him on Christmas, it is considered likely that she will make an appearance in the book. The official Alex Rider Gadget Guide book hints that Alex will be armed on this mission with a Smith & Wesson Handgun. This seventh volume is currently slated for a November 2007 publication in the UK. A US date is currently not set but it is predicted at around May 2008 time.
[edit] Plot summary
The book starts with Alex in Australia after he returns from space. Not much is known about the plot, however, there is a plot involving poisoned sweets & chocolate bars on The Tube. Also, Horowitz has said that the book will revolve around people smuggling (which the Chinese Gang Snakehead is known for), with Alex going undercover as a refugee in Bangkok for Australian intelligence to investigate a snakehead run by Major Winston Yu, who unknown to Alex works for Scorpia. Anthony Horowitz has also stated that he may plan to have Alex involved in a cage match but he is not quite sure how Alex will survive that. Anthony Horowitz has also visited Thailand to help him brainstorm.
Alex is picked up by the SAS and taken to their headquarters at Swanbourne, Perth. He is then recruited by Australian intelligence and sent under cover to Bangkok to gather intelligence on a snakehead – a gang – run by the sinister master criminal, Major Winston Yu. Ash is another new character to the series. It has been said that he knows secrets about Alex's parents death.
