God help me, I hate Smokie. I HATE Smokie. They embody everything I hate about music, Northeners and Northern musicians. There's only ONE member left from their "heyday", and he's the bassist! He's not even the one who was remotely talented! On their web-page they claim to be the best live act in Europe. What about U2? Oasis? Paul McCartney? I HATE SMOKIE! Howver, and to my eternal regret, they went to the same school as me and as such are the closest thing I have to a claim to fame (aside from the fact my Dad was an extra in the Richard Gere film Yanks) so I am eternally entwined with them and felt the need to turn this article into something substantial. So, I'd just like to say, for the record, in case any of the band members, past or present, read this (and I know you will, you self regarding wankshafts) the person who did this article for you, the only one who cares, absolutely hates you. Am amazed that there is no mention of what I thought was the bands original name The YEN which was the name they used to perform under at Birkenshaw Secondary Modern School where original drummer Ron was a pupil..Does anyone else remember this.. Dave
