Smell and Quim

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Smell and Quim is a freeform improvised noise band, comprised of Milovan Srdenovic (né Davy Walklett) and Stewart Keith (né Walden, then Bizarro, then Treize), who have released music initially in cassette form, but also more recently on compact disc.

Their output has largely been concerned with diverse (and frequently taboo) topics such as fetishism, alcoholism, pornography, medical terminology (in the vein of Goregrind bands such as Carcass) and necrophilia and is of a nihilistic and absurdist nature. Their rare live shows (which often feature colourful and surreal costumes) straddle the line between music and performance-art, influenced and inseminated by Dadaist performers such as Throbbing Gristle, Richard Youngs, Neil Campbell and Hugh Metcalfe. Bands who have cited Smell and Quim as an influence include Mad Eel Gobbled a Thumb, Ceramic Hobs and Extreme Jazz Terror.
