The smalleye smooth-hound, Mustelus henlei, is a houndshark of the family Triakidae, found on the continental shelves of the western Atlantic from northern Venezuela southward to Brazil between latitudes 11° N and 36° S, from the surface to 900 m. Its length is up to 70 cm.
The smalleye smooth-hound is found on the continental shelf on muddy, sandy and calcareous bottoms, and also occurs in shallow brackish water. It feeds mainly on crustaceans and occasionally on bony fishes, squids, and coelenterates. Catches consisting of mainly adults of one sex suggest at least partial sexual segregation. Utilized for human consumption.
Reproduction is viviparous, with 1 to 7 pups in a litter.
