"Slowdive" is a song written, produced and recorded by English rock band Siouxsie & the Banshees in 1982. It was released as the first single from the band's fifth album A Kiss in the Dreamhouse.
The album (and this single) was representative of Siouxsie & the Banshees more elaborate and experimental musical direction at the time. The gothic rock overtones of the song were accentuated by a string section, including violins and a cello. Percussionist Budgie also plays harmonica on this track.
"Slowdive" just missed becoming a top-forty hit, peaking at number forty-one in the UK singles chart.
It was covered in 2006 by the American dance-punk band LCD Soundsystem, and released on their download-only compilation Introns.
