Slovak Television
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Slovak Television (STV; Slovenská televízia in Slovak) is a state-owned public television network in Slovakia. It was created in 1991 from the Slovak part of the former Czechoslovak Television (established in 1956). STV is funded from a combination of television licence fees, advertising, and government funding.
Currently it broadcasts on two channels, STV1 and STV2, known since 2004 as Jednotka ("One" – literally "Unit") and Dvojka ("Two") which cover practically the whole territory of Slovakia.
[edit] Availablility
Jednotka and Dvojka are both available on analogue terrestrial television and cable, and via the Astra 3 satellite at 23.5°E. The channels were moved from the Eurobird 1 satellite (28.5°E) in late 2005, which caused complaints from people in parts of the country who could not receive the signal from the new position, even with a one-metre diameter satellite dish.
