Slobodan Slović

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Slobodan Slovic (born February 9, 1975 in Čačak) is a Serbian professional football player. He started his career playing for FK Borac Čačak. He later went to FK Voždovac and Red Star Belgrade, to go back again to Voždovac. Slovic was capped as a youth international for his country.

In 2004, Slobodan Slovic was transferred to Belgian First Division side Cercle Brugge, where he currently still is playing. He was recruited together with two fellow-countrymen, Sas Antunovic and Milan Nikolic, but they would be released on a free transfer only a few weeks later.

In his first season, Slovic had difficulties in achieving and keeping a place in the starting eleven. At first he was fielded as a side midfielder, but this never seemed a success. Later, Slovic would play as a central midfielder, which would lead to better performances. Playing this position, Slovic would turn out to be one of the more important players for Cercle Brugge. His strongest points are his dribbling and his passing. Critics although say that Slovic slows the game down, keeping the ball too much in his possession.

[edit] Trivia

  • Slovic is nicknamed Rocky by his team mates due to his physical resemblance and his powerful style of play.
