Slime Volleyball is a popular one or two player browser based video game reminiscent of Tennis for Two. The game is made up of two "slimes", which are semi-circles with eyes, and a net in the middle.

[edit] Gameplay

The game features two semicirclar players (slimes) playing a volleyball-type game, and is played by one human player versus the computer, or by two human players. To begin the game, the ball is dropped from the top of the screen onto one of the slimes. The slime then has to move and jump to get the ball over the net and onto the other slime without the ball hitting the ground at the bottom of the screen. The other slime then attempts to hit the ball over the net to the other side again, and this process repeats until the ball hits the ground. When this happens, the slime on the opposite side of the net to where the ball hit the ground scores a point. There are two scoring systems; in the one player game, One Slime, the first player to six points wins. If the human player wins, they advance to the next computer opponent (there are five levels). In the original two player game, each player starts with five points; the winner of a rally takes a point from the loser of the rally, with the first player to grab a tity 10 points declared the winner.

There are a range of other games such as Soccer Slime and Cricket Slime that feature the same semicircular slime players, but the games are played with a set of rules resembling those of the other sports. One game popular with slimers is the online peer to peer slime game. This allows users to play against each other on different workstations.

[edit] One Slime levels

  • Level 1: Pathetic White Slime

The Pathetic White Slime is the first opponent in the One Slime game. According to the creator of the game, Quin Pendragon, he is an easier version of the Level 2 slime. Many fans have argued this point, but Pendragon maintains the code is reduced in difficulty. The problem may arise from the actual implementation of the lessening of difficulty in the code, as the Pathetic White Slime may have more unpredictable movement characteristics than the Angry Red Slime.

  • Level 2: Angry Red Slime

Angry Red Slime was named after Australian musician Red Symons. According to the creator of the game he is supposed to be slightly more difficult to beat than the Pathetic White Slime, however most people find him to be the easiest opponent. Both the Pathetic and the Angry Slimes are generally considered to be easy opponents.

  • Level 3: Slime Master

In contrast with the two first levels the master slime is much harder to defeat than the second, which is also indicated by his moniker Master as opposed to Angry for the earlier opponent. The Slime Master is the last regular opponent in the game. He has no inherent advantage over the human player. This is in contrast with the next two opponents who either has greater speed or a larger size than the human-controlled slime. Due to the difficulty of defeating the Slime Master several guides have appeared on the internet containing tips on how to beat him.

  • Level 4: Psycho Slime

The blinking Psycho Slime is the first opponent that retains an "unfair" advantage over the human-controlled slime in that it can move twice faster. Psycho Slime is very difficult to defeat and again, there are guides available on the internet that are dedicated to beating Psycho Slime.

  • Level 5: Big Blue Boss

The Big Blue Boss has the advantage of being bigger than the human-controlled slime. He is even harder to defeat than Psycho Slime due to his size, so very few slime players are able to defeat him, even after playing the game for a long time.
