For details of the 2006 Championship, check Sligo Junior Football Championship 2006. The Sligo Junior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the lower-tier Sligo teams, at present entirely comprised of reserve teams from the various clubs in the county. The winners of the Sligo Junior Championship qualify to represent the county in the Connacht Club Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship. However, as the winners in recent years have been second teams, and with no exclusive Junior team participating, no Sligo representative has taken part since Owenmore Gaels in 2005. Drumcliffe/Rosses Point were crowned Champions in 2006, winning the title for the fourth time.
