SLCM

Submarine-launched cruise missiles or SLCM's are cruise missiles that deliver conventional (non-nuclear) payloads and are launched from submarines. Current versions are typically standoff weapons which are used to attack predetermined land targets.

Many ballistic missile submarines are being retrofitted with new missile tubes capable of firing a large number of cruise missiles to any number of targets. The advantage that the submarines here have over guided missile destroyer and cruiser is the ability to use modern launch systems to fire while submerged.
