Slaking lime would be of far more importance to an encyclopedia than some drivel about pokemon!

Wouldn't Slaking's name also be a variant of "slacking"?

I agree, Slakings name origin is obviously a play on the gerund form of the verb Slack. The article should be updated, but I will leave it to a Pokemon expert.
