[edit] Copyright status

Originally this was listed as being out of copyright because it was 100 years+ the the life of the author. Obviously this is incorrect, as it was supposed to have been taken in 1937. Thus the tag is not appropriate. John Smith's 18:21, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Japanese copyright law is: Life+50 which means that the work is in the public domain if the author died more than 50 years before the end of the current year. Since Japanese newspapers rarely name the authors of their images and articles, it is difficult to determine if the photographer who took this picture died more than 50 years ago. However, the two subjects of the photo did both die more than 50 years ago. Unsigned comment by User:Cla68 at 14:08, 27 July 2006
Whether or not the subjects are alive or not is not the issue. The thing that matters is when the author died (if he did at all). John Smith's 13:32, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Source

Ok, joe said he thought it was "fair use". However, although it says it's from that newspaper, there's no info as to where the image came from onto wiki. Did it come from a website, was it uploaded from a scan, etc? John Smith's 20:16, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
