Skyscrapers in Glasgow

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Glasgow currently has many tall buildings either built, planned, under construction etc. Many of the older generation of high rises were poorly planned or looked after and as a direct result many are now being demolished. However hope now lies in the future generation of glassy skyscrapers. The current tallest buildings in Glasgow are the Gallowgate Twins: Bluevale Street and Whitevale Street both at 90.80 metrres in height. Soon these are to be surpassed by new skyscrapers. The most prominent of these are Elphinstone Place, East One, Elmbank Tower and more are soon to come.

[edit] Built

Over the years hundreds of tower blocks were built in Glasgow. These were known as 'schemes' and were mostly Council Housing and a myth is that Red Road Flats are the tallest Public Flats. This is not true as there are now many taller, in fact in Glasgow itself there are two blocks taller than the Red Road Flats.
