Skyline Boulevard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Skyline Boulevard is a narrow State Scenic Highway which cuts through the backcountry of Silicon Valley and forms part of Highway 35. [1] Since it runs along the ridgeline of the Santa Cruz Mountains, it provides views of both the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Skyline Boulevard forms the upper boundary of Sanborn County Park.
Numerous hiking trails originate from parking lots off Skyline Blvd., including the Purisima Open Space, which is part of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District. A number of streams originate near Skyline Boulevard, flowing to both Pacific Ocean and the Bay. Among the bayside streams are Redwood Creek and San Bruno Creek.
A notable feature of Skyline Boulevard is historic Kings Mountain in Woodside. Skyline Blvd. offers views of Half Moon Bay as it summits Kings Mountain.
Long-time nationally prominent Skyline Blvd. dwellers include: Birth control pill inventor and novelist, Carl Djerassi; Billionaire investor, Forbes columnist, and local historian Kenneth Fisher; and Rock and Roll legend, Neil Young.
Skyline Boulevard is also home to a few businesses, including the Mountain House, Alice’s Restaurant, RE/MAX Pioneer @ Skywood and the corporate headquarters for Fisher Investments.
