From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Skudenes is a former municipality in Rogaland county, Norway, created as Skudenes formannskapsdistrikt in 1837.

In 1849 the district was split into Skudenes og Bokn formannskapsdistrikt. On February 1, 1858 the town Skudeneshavn was separated from Skudenes, constituting a municipality of its own. On January 1, 1892 the same thing happened to Åkra.

On January 1, 1965 Skudenes was merged with Avaldsnes, Kopervik, Skudeneshavn, Stangaland, Torvastad and Åkra to form the new municipality Karmøy.
