Skate shoes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Skate shoes are shoes specifically made for the sport of skateboarding. A variation of the classic athletic shoe, they are made to provide the support and durability that a skateboarder needs. A skate shoe needs to have a strong ollie pad to make the shoe last longer and should also have a thick sole so the shoe manages to stay strong. BMX (bicycle) riders wear skate shoes to grip the pedals and for the thick soles that can act as brakes. Skate shoes are also known for their thick tongue to protect skateboarders from injury. Skate shoes are also commonly worn as casual everyday wear, mainly by teenagers, due to their width which provides comfort to the wearer even if the wearer doesn't regularly participate in skateboarding.
