[edit] Skannerz
The original Skannerz came in three versions which represented the three tribes. Zendra (blue), Pataak (green) and Ujalu (red). If a player scans a barcode containing a rival tribe's monster, a battle would be initiated. Also items could be gathered from U. P. C. barcodes.Another feature is the two player battle system where two units could be linked together and battle. There are 126 monsters to collect and control between the 3 controllers.
Tips from the Ultimate Barcode Directory (reprinted here with permission):
- You need 31HP to advance to level 2 and 70HP to advance to level three.
- Every time your monster wins a battle, all of your monsters get 1 HP each.
- You still gain the HP if you lose the battle, but you have to have knocked out at least one opponent.
[edit] Skannerz Commander
The Skannerz Commander is second in the series and is said to be the best. There are no "tribes" in this version nor are there different models. The Skannerz Commander game is incompatible with the original Skannerz models.
Tips from the Commander Directory (reprinted here with permission):
- Remember that the different classes of monsters affects the strength of their attacks against other classes of monsters. Magic beats Tech, Tech beats Power, and Power beats Magic (just like paper, scissors, rock).
- Radica brand barcodes have the additional feature of being able to act as a healing code in the first 2 iterations of the game. All the barcodes in the Commander Directory have the unique property of acting as healing codes as well as they have all been reverse-engineered for the game.
[edit] Skannerz Orbz
The third Skannerz series had nothing to do with barcodes. It is said that this should not be part of the Skannerz series because it does not have anything to do with barcodes.
