[edit] Is this page really necessary?

Is this page really necessary? This isn't a definition for "six million." I haven't heard of "six million" as a widely used term. --BaronLarf 14:26, Dec 22, 2004 (UTC)

It is in Israel Deror 14:36, 22 Dec 2004 (UTC)
It is important to remember the Holocaust, so that it never happens again. But in the absence of an exact number, I don't think it's a good idea to have an article about this number, which is at best a rough estimate. But the page is here, so I might as well add the Wikipedia:WikiProject Numbers acouterements. Robert Happelberg 18:43, 22 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I don't suppose there will be a 2000000 for the number of Ukrainians brutally starved to death by Stalin ofcourse thats no wonder, considering who controls the media. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.141.214.87 (talkcontribs) 13:35, 2 May 2005 (UTC)
This isn't corporate "media", and if you can convince the members of WikiProject Numbers that there should be a page for 2000000 with that fact, then there will be. PrimeFan 18:04, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
Who indoctrinates people to think that the Soviet Union was a great place, you know who. They just don't want anyone to gain any sympathy, except themselves. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.141.214.87 (talk • contribs) 01:41, 29 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Move to six million?

This article might be better at six million, as it's more about the phrase than the mathematical or numerological aspects (unlike most number articles). It's also easier to read than 6000000, because you don't have to count the zeros :) sjorford →•← 15:08, 3 August 2005 (UTC)

I think that the current redirect from six million does the job nicely, and the current title falls into line with the way most articles on numbers are titled. --BaronLarf 16:48, August 3, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Move to Population:Jewish?

I don't really see the relevency here to any combination of digits.

[edit] No 'o' in million?

Is this statement really correct? "It is one of the few numbers whose English representation in words does not use the letters r, t, or u (see Sloane's A072956), nor the letters h, o, r, t, or w (Sloane's A073419)." 6000000=Six million, which contains an 'o'.

[edit] Shouldn't be structrued as an article about an integer

Only the most trivial things could be said about the exact integer 6000000. On the other hand, very much can be (and has been) said on the symbolic meaning of six million Jewish lives lost in the Holocaust. I strongly suggest we de-mathematicize the content of this page and move it to Six million or Six million (Holocaust).--Pharos 06:40, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

  • OK, I've de-mathematicized it.--Pharos 20:27, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
