Siti Wan Kembang

Siti Wan Kembang (also known as Che Siti) was a legendary queen who ruled over the region on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula towards the end of the 14th century. She was famous for her beauty and wisdom. It is said that, in 1345, the famous Muslim traveller Ibnu Batutah visited Siti Wan Kembang, who was also known as Urduga. Her adopted daughter, Puteri Saadong, the youngest daughter of Sultan Jembal, succeeded her. It was reputed that both women had spiritual, magical powers. Legend has it that Che Siti never died but instead "disappeared" into the mystical world, and reappears from time to time.
The deer on the state flag of Kelantan commemorates her historic reign. She ordered the state's gold coinage to be stamped with the design of a deer, her favourite pet.
