re: goodbye

I'm sorry that you feel like your contribution/population of Category:Celebrity Poker Showdown players was devalued. Sometimes getting to know the traditions for how things work here can be a little...arcane. I noticed that Celebrity Poker Showdown already has a list of all participants (hopefully I'm right, I don't watch the show). Adding a mention in the celebrity's article of their participation, within the prose text, may be more useful than adding a whole new category. There's a tendency right now to eliminate minor categories such as "guest star on.." or "one-time appearance on..."; think of it this way: Any celebrity worth their salt is going to have dozens, if not hundreds, of guest appearances on celebrity auctions, talk shows, game shows, and the like. Adding ALL of those things to categories at the bottom of the page would make category navigation extremely cumbersome. Adding it to the article (or omitting it, in really minor cases, like "Went on David Letterman - who hasn't??) in the text accomplishes your goal as well, right?

In any case, if you still feel the need to leave, godspeed, but I wanted to drop you a line before the door shut, perhaps. -- nae'blis 16:43, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

I overreacted here, I think if anything I should had created celebrities who play poker, letting people know about the popularity of hold'em in Hollywood, not just to a particular show, I started with Category:Celebrity Poker Showdown players due to a request for a category on Ida Siconolfi page, the only non-Celebrity to appear on the show and idea for showdown player cat begun, should had thought twice about it I see your point of their being too many categories would be cumbersome, just got a bit angry to see my first category being voted off that took over an hour to make, but I no longer feel that way I was taking it personal after having had a bad day anyway, my apologies --Sirex98 17:36, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
No problem, glad I pulled you back from the abyss (which is different from a Wikibyss). I was actually fascinated to read in Jennifer Tilly's article that she wants to play poker more than act these days; shows you just how much poker has caught on in this country, something I don't personally understand. Looking forward to seeing your future edits, and welcome back! -- nae'blis 18:02, 27 August 2006 (UTC)

New Devilfish page

Glad you like it. The page is due an overhaul anyway. May be able to get this up to A-Class standard... Essexmutant 07:47, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

hey

I have no real intention of creating a Wikipedia username. Just doing yeoman's work cleaning up some graffiti. I'm not a big Jamie Gold fan, but saying he's a Jew who worked in gay porn is a little beyond the pale.

See ya 'round -- mike —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.224.59.80 (talk) 04:36, October 3, 2006 (UTC).

Just a welcome message, not big fan of Jamie Gold either, Jennifer Harman,Annie Duke,Stu Ungar & Daniel Negreanu on the other hand I am... --Sirex98 16:17, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey Sirex

Thanks for your compliments. I did some tweaks in yours too. See User talk:NikoSilver/Signature shop#Sirex98. •NikoSilver 17:40, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Your Welcome and Thank you, was bit lengthy, just substituted it with your streamline version, cheers ~~=Sirex98= 19:27, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

User warning templates.

Normally only sysops would use the "5" series of templates, as they state the an actual block has been placed. There is a LARGE collection of WARNING templates at Category:User warning templates that you can use regularly. — xaosflux Talk 05:15, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

If I'm not allowed to use the temp block templates , what am I suppose to do in vandalize cases like this when a sysop not around?, I've test1,2,3 before and the vandalize usually stops but this one keep doing it over a 30 minute period? ~~=Sirex98= 05:33, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your feedback on Poker probability (Omaha)

I'll be adding more to the article over the next week or two as I have time, so keep checking back. I added a section on making four of a kind, a full house or three of a kind last night and will add similar sections for making flushes, straights and straight flushes and for making low hands. If you have any ideas about what else to add let me know on the talk page. One thing I wasn't sure about was whether I should continue adding discussions for all the derivations...it seems like I should, but it will eventually make the article too big and I'll have to split them out.

By the way, I haven't played in a WSOP event, yet, but it'd sure be nice to win one someday. Image:smile-tpvgames.gif

What happened on my pretty dumb talk page?

What were you doing on my user page. I know it's pretty useless but why did you just edit and revert something? Tosayit 03:16, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

I was up last night running an anti-vandal program looking for activity, I had it set to filter out user pages but your showed up anyway and I erroneously thought your talk page was an article, I was up late and was very sleepy at the time, so I set the article (your talk page) for deletion, doh! as soon as I notice my mistake I reverted it as fast as I could and didn't even fill out a edit the summery which I should had, anyway no harm done, I'm sorry once again for the mistake. ▪◦▪=Sirex98= 04:11, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for supporting my RfA

Thank you for your support in my RfA, which passed with a final tally of (56/0/2). It was great to see so much kind support from such competent editors and administrators as commented on my RfA.

I know I have much reading to do before I'll feel comfortable enough to use some of the more powerful admin tools, so I'll get right to it.

Again, thanks;  OzLawyer / talk  13:15, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Image:Renee-estevez.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Renee-estevez.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Chowbok 01:35, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Hi Sirex, and thanks for your participation at the recent RfA, which did not succeed. For those of you who expressed their support, your kind words and your trust are sincerely appreciated. For those who were opposed --especially those who offered their constructive criticism-- please accept this message as assurance that equally sincere efforts, aimed at enhancing the quality and accuracy of representations within the Wikipedia, will continue. Striving for improved collaboration and consensus will also continue, with all of your insights in mind, while applying NPOV ideals as fairly and reasonably as possible. Ha! If I do what you suggest, I'd be lucky to get even 7 votes! Thanks - do lemme know if I can ever be of help. Rama's arrow 05:05, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for the Support

I'd like to express my huge thanks to you, Sirex98, for your support in my recent RfA, which closed with 100% support at 71/0/1. Needless to say, I am very suprised at the huge levels of support I've seen on my RfA, and at the fact that I only had give three answers, unlike many other nominees who have had many, many more questions! I'll be careful with my use of the tools, and invite you to tell me off if I do something wrong! Thanks, Martinp23 14:59, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

WikiProject Munich

Would you be interested in helping out atWikiProject Munich? And you don't have to know anything about Munich. Maybe you could help out on bringing Munich-related articles up to Wikipedia Policies and guidlines standards or maybe another area where you could help improve Munich-related articles. Sorry, messed up revert -- Fizban30<c.t> 23:55, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

No problem mistakes are made, most likely a problem of timing, good work at catching the error :) ▪◦▪=Sirex98= 00:08, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Hoax?

Regardless of the socks in the AFD, are you sufficiently versed in Chinese to read the supposed sources? I've dubbed some odd stuff a hoax when it in fact turned out to be true. Having a sockfarm vote, doesn't mean the article is bad. If that was the case, socks could vote to keep, just to get something deleted. - Mgm|(talk) 10:47, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure which sources you are talking about, none where listed in the article, If it is true, it seems very strange that on the only other google hit shows a web site talking about wikipedia,
"Due to issues with having no sense of humour, Wikipedia does not feel that my article has a place in its collection of knowledge" now, it is of course possible that it could be true, but that's up to the writer of the article to list good sources, the article was written last week by someone who not only took a image from a website that I found the source to, but choose a very odd user name and it looks now to be a sockpuppet. ▪◦▪≡Ѕirex98≡ 11:05, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
I see what going on, it is something I missed, the reference were listed after I started my participation in the afd, I will give a timeline, first ref started here http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mandarin_Emperor_style_dildo&diff=next&oldid=89790852

I will finish the timeline so to clear things up a bit, I will write back ▪◦▪≡Ѕirex98≡ 11:14, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents

  • 08:26-09:53 when I wrote the notice board,, I began to think people where viewing the merits of the article over what I was trying to alert to, this is because I never checked back to see what addition WeiWei11 added, which were ref's that the people at the notice board were seeing, this was my mistake not checking what was added, the Chinese lang links, I understand now why you wrote what you wrote, but not at that time. ▪◦▪≡Ѕirex98≡ 12:04, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
  • If the author is talking about a sense of humour, I'm afraid. If it's true, there's nothing humourous to see. And don't worry. It's an easy mistake to make. Now you did it, you'll be more careful next time. :) By the way, nice userpage. - Mgm|(talk) 12:12, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
