Sirius Patrol

The SIRIUS Patrol (Danish: Slædepatruljen Sirius) is a Danish military dog sled patrol in Greenland, operationally under the Greenland Command and administratively under the Navy Operational Command.
The patrol represents Denmark's military presence on north-east Greenland where they patrol the vast area with dogs sleds during winter and the fjords with small military seagoing vessels during summer. The patrol is based in Daneborg (7418N 2014W) on the south side of Wollaston Forland in north-east Greenland.
Activated in World War II to prevent German landings along northeast coast of Greenland, the patrol discovered German weather station at Sabine Island, which was subsequently destroyed by USAF bombers from Iceland.
