Aaron (アーロン Āron?) is a character in the eighth Pokémon movie Lucario and the Mystery of Mew. He is a legendary hero who is capable of seeing and using Aura. The gloves that Sir Aaron wears allow him (and Ash) to channel aura.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

In Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Sir Aaron sacrificed himself to stop a war threatening Cameron Palace and the surrounding lands. He and Lady Rin, the queen, were keeping watch over the castle when Lucario used a crystal to convey information about approaching enemy armies to Sir Aaron. Aaron left the palace on the back of his Pidgeot. He met Lucario, and said that he was no longer Lucario's master. He was leaving the castle forever. Aaron then sealed Lucario inside his staff, and fled. This is all that is heard about Aaron until the ending scenes (aside from Lucario's flashbacks that reveal that Aaron and Lucario shared a close bond).

In the final scenes, a Time Flower allowed Ash and friends, as well as Lucario, to see what Aaron did on the day the war ended. He flew on the back of his Pidgeot to the Tree of Beginning (a living rock formation and the dwelling place of the legendary Pokémon Mew). In its central chamber, he sacrificed his Aura to Mew (who transferred it to the Tree) so peace could be restored to the kingdom. His life force nearly gone, he collapsed on the wall, in pain. He took off his gloves and began recording a message to Lucario that first apologizes to him for trapping him inside the staff, explains that he did it to protect Lucario from following and sacrificing himself as well, and states that he will be released in a more peaceful time. He then goes on to say that he has had a good, meaningful life, and that although he had never admitted it, Lucario was his greatest and closest friend. Lucario, while watching the scene through the Time Flower, says that he feels the same. Aaron finishes by saying that he hopes that they will meet again.

Because the Tree is dying, Lucario sacrifices himself in a similar fashion (Ash Ketchum was willing to sacrifice himself to save the Tree as well, but Lucario pushes him away at the last minute so that Ash will not be killed). He is acceptant about his sacrifice, and states simply "I have to go - Aaron is waiting for me." He dies next to Aaron (who is encased in a crystal formation), and they both vanish, their auras/spirits floating up together.

[edit] Trivia

  • In the movie, Lucario first mistakes Ash Ketchum for Aaron because the two have the same aura. Which could mean Ash is related to him.
  • In the end credits, there is a scene where Aaron and Lucario are together, which suggests that they were adept enough at controlling their auras to live on.
Spoilers end here.
