Siobhan Dillon born in Lichfield, Staffordshire, England is 21 years old and was the second runner up in How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?. She lives in London and was doing a BA hons in Product Design and Development for the Fashion Industry, Accessories pathway at Cordwainers College which is part of University of The Arts.
Despite being one of the favourites during the first round of auditions, Dillon initially did not make the final ten after an illness had badly affected her voice during the final stages.
After finalist Emilie Alford removed herself from the competition, Dillon, being the last person eliminated during the selection process, returned to the show as the "Second Chance Maria".
- Songs
- On the first night, she sang the Shania Twain hit, "Man! I Feel like a Woman!".
- On her second appearance, she sang the Tina Arena song, "Chains".
- In the third week's show, she sang the Pointer Sisters and Girls Aloud hit, "Jump!". Zoe Tyler then made her sing the final lines from her audition piece, "I Could Have Danced All Night".
- On the fourth show, she sang "Songbird" by Eva Cassidy, resulting in her being named the unofficial Maria of the night. Also during the show, Andrew Lloyd Webber chose her to perform "Truly Scrumptious" with the children who starred in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
- In the fifth week she sang "All That Jazz" from the hit musical Chicago accompanied by six male dancers. Dillon successfully got through to the second live show of the evening but faced the second sing off against Aoife Mulholland. They sang "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina". Lloyd Webber saved Dillon because he believed she had the strongest voice which could carry eight shows a week.
- On the final night Siobhan sang "Anyone Who Had A Heart". Later on she sang "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music. She was knocked out during the night's first public vote, which meant she came third overall.
To check all of the potential Marias' fitness, which would indicate their stamina for every show, David Ian took the girls to an assault course. Dillon ran through the course fastest, in under two minutes. Siobhan came first in this test, with fellow competitor Simona Armstrong coming second.
During the semi-final week the girls went to Wales to build up their confidence and acting skills with West End's leading man John Barrowman.
In the last week the three finalists were taken to Austria to see some of the sights which were in the film. Which included the famous steps and the Abbey. Dillon said she was inspired by the Abbey and she knew deeper down Maria was the part for her.
Siobhan has been signed up by the record company Polydor, and she is currently in the USA with top songwriters recording an album which is due to be released this spring. It will consist of a maximum of 2 covers, one of which WILL be Eva Cassidy's "Songbird".
