This is a page of important academic linguistic information. It is difficult to locate such topics on the Internet. Please do not try to prudishly censor or deface it, or try to get it removed.

Most of these expressions, apart from Singlish which is a relatively recent patois, have been used for centuries, if not millenia. The impossibility of locating printed references for many makes it all the more urgent that an archive in Wikipedia be started and built upon.

[edit] Derogatory and insenstive?

• This page is poorly written and leans toward being derogatory with a clear disregard for the sensitivities of Singaporeans. The author might want to note that not all immigrants to Singapore are crude, vulgur and uneducated.

It is obvious to any reader that not all early immigrants to Singapore used vulgarities on a regular basis, nor were all of them uncouth. The same applies to any other country in the world. Just because early British emigrés to America cussed with expletives does not mean that all Americans are crude. Nor does the fact that many early immigrant Australians were convicts shipped from the British Isles imply that all Australians today have criminal tendencies. This article forms an important record of one aspect of the Singaporean vernacular which is inadequately documented in print form.

Sensitivity has no place in an impartial and thorough academic dissection. If Wikipedia disallowed articles on the basis of their being sensitive topics, many of the articles on religion, politics and sex would not exist (see the articles penis, jihad and Singapore Democratic Party). Do we want this in an open encyclopaedia?

• The content of this page is indeed discriminative albeit the feeble attempts of euphemising the derogatory insinuations by using fancy-dancy words.
• Therefore having pages contributed by helpful people like these on wikipedia greatly degrades the reputation of this encyclopedia.

Your first sentence makes no sense at all. Do you mean "discriminatory" instead of "discriminative"? If so, which portion is discriminatory?

This is an academic comment on sexual slang in Singapore. It in no way degrades the reputation of Wikipedia. Check out the well written Wikipedia articles fuck, cunt, motherfucker, asshole and arse which have existed for years. Get off your puritanical high horse and broaden your mind.

Why is the expression "tiger show" used to describe an erotic performance when no animals are involved?

Could the person who added "PCC" to mean "masturbation" kindly explain its derivation? I've never heard of it.

Could someone help to enter the Dravidian, Devanagari and Urdu scripts in the relevant sections. The transliterations are all not standardised and it would be immensely helpful to know the original word in its native script.
